The UK is experiencing a surge in Covid cases driven by the new KP.3 variant, which is part of a group of variants known as FLiRT. The KP3 variant has caused a significant spike in cases in the US and is now present in the UK, although in smaller numbers so far.
The symptoms of the KP.3 variant
mirror those of the earlier JN variant, including fever or chills. Other
potential symptoms include:
- High temperature or shivering
- New, continuous cough
- Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
- Shortness of breath
- Feeling tired or exhausted
- Aching body
- Headache
- Sore throat
- Blocked or runny nose
- Loss of appetite
- Diarrhoea
- Feeling sick or being sick
