Rahul Gandhi Appointed as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha: A Pivotal Moment for India's Democracy


Rahul Gandhi, the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi political dynasty, has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the 18th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. This decision was announced after a meeting of the floor leaders of the INDIA bloc, an opposition alliance, at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. 

The Congress party, being the single largest opposition party, gets the post of LoP after a gap of 10 years. Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi wrote to the Pro-tem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab, informing him of the decision to appoint Rahul Gandhi as the LoP.
